The Fleet
We operate a fleet of three custom-built boats, each maintained to the highest professional standards. Every vessel is equipped with state-of-the-art electronics, fast and efficient cruise speeds, and the latest high-end fishing tackle. This combination allows us to travel farther, fish longer, capand deliver a safe, comfortable, and unforgettable day on the water—whether you’re chasing trophy fish offshore or enjoying a relaxed trip closer to shore.
Federal trips run from June until NOAA announces a seasonal closure in the fall. These trips are conducted aboard our Albemarle 310.
State-water trips are open year-round and our snapper trips in state waters are run aboard Ray of Sunshine.
Everything except your fishing license is included in the trip (fish cleaning, parking, fuel, bait, and water bottles). If you have any questions or special requests, please don't hesitate to give me a call.

Our 2006 Albemarle replaces Ray of Sunshine 1 as our flagship vessel. Powered by twin 375 HP CAT C7 diesel engines and carrying 500 gallons of fuel, she offers exceptional range and endurance, allowing us to travel far into the Gulf for extended trips.
With a cruise speed of over 30 knots, this Albemarle is remarkably fast for her size—capable of keeping pace with smaller center consoles and outrunning most sportfishing boats.
Designed for comfort on longer trips, she features four berths, a full bathroom with shower, and air conditioning, making her ideal for overnight and multi-day offshore adventures.
Before joining our fleet, the boat underwent an extensive refit during the winter of 2025–2026, including over $30,000 in electronics upgrades alone. She is now equipped with the latest sonar and navigation technology, giving us every advantage when it comes to finding fish and traveling safely offshore.
As a federally permitted charter, Ray Of Sunshine can legally fish beyond state waters—giving you access to offshore grounds and opportunities many boats simply cannot offer
6hr federal snapper trip
Expect a 45-minute to 1-hour boat ride, placing us 20–30 miles offshore on some of the best red snapper fishing in the Gulf. This trip also regularly produces a variety of quality reef fish.
Target species include:
Red snapper, mangrove snapper, grouper, triggerfish, and amberjack.

Catch your limit of delicious snapper, then spend the rest of the day trolling for exciting pelagic species.

10hr Billfishing trip
Trade quantity for Quality as we target some of the most sought-after fish in the ocean. This trip typically takes us 40–70 miles offshore, often beyond the continental shelf.
Target species include:
Blue marlin, white marlin, sailfish, mahi mahi, yellowfin tuna, blackfin tuna, wahoo, and kingfish.
When conditions allow, we can also deep drop for tilefish, snowy grouper, and yellowedge grouper.

18hr overnight trip
Depart the dock in the afternoon, bottom fish and troll during the day, and then target swordfish overnight. A true offshore adventure designed for serious anglers.

Trips starting at $4,000
24&36 hr trips
Run to the deepwater rigs known as the “floaters.” These rigs provide the only structure for hundreds of miles, creating incredible tuna fishing at night. We typically depart in the afternoon, trolling on the way out, then begin fishing the rigs as the sun sets. Under the lights, tuna come alive feeding on baitfish such as flying fish.
When the season allows, we will also stop to limit out on snapper and amberjack on the return trip.

Ray of Sunshine 2 29' Custom Sutphen Center Console
Step aboard Ray of Sunshine, a 29’ custom-built 2016 Sutphen Sportfish center console, one of the newest and best-equipped charter boats in the area. Powered by a 375 HP Yanmar diesel, this boat is exceptionally efficient—allowing us to pass fuel savings directly on to you.
Designed with massive fishing space, ample seating, and a small cabin with a full head (bathroom), this Sutphen was custom built to deliver a dry, comfortable ride even in rough offshore conditions. Drawing inspiration from offshore racing boats, she features a sharper, deeper V-hull than any production fishing boat, with an impressive 26-degree deadrise.
With a cruise speed of over 40 mph, Ray of Sunshine is fast—maximizing your time fishing and minimizing travel time. That means more lines in the water and less time running.
During the winter of 2024–2025, the boat was upgraded with over $20,000 in top-of-the-line electronics, including advanced sonar and radar systems. These tools help us locate fish, spot feeding birds, and safely navigate to and from the fishing grounds.
5hr state water snapper trip $950
An action-packed trip with a short boat ride and lots of fishing. This option is perfect for smaller groups looking to maximize time on the water. We typically run 10–20 miles and focus on bottom fishing reefs and wrecks. This trip often produces great numbers of fish.
Target species include:
Red snapper, grouper, triggerfish, and—when time and season allow—kingfish.
8hr state water snapper and trolling $1,350
On this trip, we usually limit out on red snapper and still have plenty of time to troll for kingfish and other pelagic species such as mahi mahi. If you’re extra lucky, a sailfish may even make an appearance.
